Base Contour

Short Definition: The lowest contour on a mountain which completely surrounds that mountain, and no higher mountain.

Usage: As in: "The base contour a minor subpeak covers very little area, because the key saddle is so close, but the base of the highest mountain in a region covers a huge area."

Usefulness: Useful visually to refer to the flooding idea. Also useful when discussing Island area versus Mountain region.
