Wales Pass

Prominence (depth) is 1499m below Mount Clemenceau.Description: A glaciated pass northwest of the Columbia Icefield, which forms the boundary between the Columbia Icefield and the Clemenceau Icefield. The name comes from Wales Peak, which is just north of the pass, and also the Wales Glacier.

Exact Location: 3 km SE of Wales peak. The wales glacier runs west, and a small creek runs north then east to the Athabasca River.

Drainages: To the west, the pass drains via the Wales Glacier into the Sullivan River (Columbia River). To the east, a small creek drains into the headwaters of the Athabasca River.

Access: The pass is easily reached from the Athabasca River, and from there, one can ski up the Triad Peak.

Exact Height: On the 1:50,000, the 2200m contour runs just below the pass, however the TRIM shows it at 2165m.
