Jasper Southeast Region (Columbia 2) Map Hierarchy: North America / Continental Columbia / Jasper Southeast. Location: This region is the southeastern part of Jasper Park, excluding the part north of Yellowhead Pass, and excluding the Edith Cavell-Fryatt area which is west of the Athabasca River boundary. Area: 19918 sq km Includes: Columbia Icefields, Clemenceau Icefield, Jasper, Maligne Range, Queen Elizabeth Ranges, Brazeau, Cline, Lyell Icefield, Maligne Lake Terrain: The mountains along the western boundary are surrounded by sizeable icefields such as the Clemenceau, Columbia and Lyell Icefields. The northeastern part of this region, such as Brazeau, contains huge grassy meadows instead of big icefields. All of the major peaks still have glaciers, but not the continuous icefields of the more western peaks. The trees consist of small densely packed spruce and fir trees. There are no larch trees this far north. The area has numerous trails, and where there are no trails, travel through the woods is feasible. Click Here for Mountains |
