Great Boreal Region (Boothia 1)
Map Hierarchy: North America / Great Boreal.

Location: Athabasca-Saskatchewan Divide. This region is really a fragment of the Columbia region. Area: 2872095 sq km

Includes: Most of Saskatchewan, the northwestern tip of Manitoba and the majority of the Northwest Territories (east of the Mackenzie River). Includes much of the drainage into Hudson's Bay. Includes the Boothia Penninsula.

Terrain: The terrain in this huge area varies. Starting from the south Saskatchewan river is a huge prairie grassland area, which is almost all under cultivation. North of the prairie region is a vast land of boreal forest, with thousands of lakes and rivers. This area contains the traditional canoe routes across Canada. And finally as one gets further north, the forest ends and the great barrens begins, running up to the arctic ocean. Click Here for Mountains
