| Ski touring in the Ruby RangeRanges: Great Basin An ascent of 11000’ Liberty Pk instead of climbing Lake Pk. When I arrived in Elko Nevada the Ruby Range was in the clouds, but there was lots of
snow visible below. I first stopped at the ranger station. It was Tuesday afternoon well
within the posted office hours between Mo - Fr. but they seemed to be on an extended
Memorial Day weekend. A sign said they will be open Thursday. At the chamber of
comerce they didn’t know about the road conditions, but told me there was no gate on
the Lamoille Canyon Road and I should be able to drive to the snow, if any. Thats all I
wanted to do and what I did the next morning.<p>Before I saw any larger snow... To see the full trip report including photos, java map and GPS waypoints, you must be a Paid Member |
